Quality Policy

Marine Training Academy (MTA) is committed to maintaining high standards of maritime education and training by strictly adhering to the guidelines and requirements laid down by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), and STCW Convention standards.
To ensure consistency, effectiveness, and continuous improvement in training delivery, MTA established and implemented a structured Quality Management System in 1998. The academy’s quality framework is aligned with internationally recognized standards and complies with ISO 9001:2015 requirements. MTA has been awarded the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certification by Det Norske Veritas (DNV-GL).
At MTA, quality is reflected in every aspect of training — from faculty expertise and practical learning facilities to student engagement and training delivery. The academy believes that the commitment, professionalism, and positive approach of its faculty and staff play a vital role in shaping competent, disciplined, and career-ready seafarers.
Since its inception in 1993, MTA has remained focused on delivering vocational maritime training that not only complies with the guidelines of the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India, but also meets national and international maritime standards established by the IMO and STCW framework.
The academy continuously strives to provide a professional, student-focused, and practical learning environment that supports knowledge enhancement, skill development, and overall trainee satisfaction.
Quality Objectives
MTA aims to deliver quality maritime training and enhance the professional competence of trainees through:
- Conducting maritime vocational courses approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India, in compliance with STCW requirements.
- Maintaining consistency and effectiveness in training delivery.
- Regular review and updating of course curriculum in line with industry and regulatory developments.

The management of MTA is fully committed to maintaining and continuously improving the academy’s quality standards across all training and operational activities. The Principal holds the overall responsibility for implementing and monitoring the quality policy and objectives of the academy.
At the same time, every member of the faculty and training staff shares the responsibility of maintaining high training standards and contributing towards continuous quality improvement.
